The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Wednesday posted the hearing on a bail petition moved by B Ramalinga Raju, prime accused in the multi-crore Satyam Computers accounting scam, to August 5. The company’s former chairman moved the petition exactly one week after the same court granted bail to five of his co-accused. He requested the court to grant him bail as accused 2 and 5 had been let out on bail despite facing similar charges.

Satyam scam case hearing adjourned to July 29

Hyderabad: The special court dealing with the multi-crore Satyam scam case on Monday adjourned examination and hearing of charges against the accused to July 29. Examination and hearing of charges against 10 Satyam personnel accused of fudging books of account of the company, including disgraced former chairman B Ramalinga Raju, will commence on July 29.

AP High Court granted bail to former Satyam managing director Rama Raju

The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Tuesday granted bail to former Satyam managing director Rama Raju, former chief financial officer Vadlamani Srinivas and three others accused in the multi-crore rupee accounting scam. Justice Raja Elango of the AP high court granted bails to Rama Raju, brother of Satyam founder Ramalinga Raju, Srinivas and three others former Satyam employees G Ramakrishna, Venkatapathi Raju and Ch Srisailam.

Judge Hearing PWC case recuses himself from hearing

Mr Justice D. D. Sinha of the Bombay High Court, one of the judges on the Division Bench hearing audit firm Price Waterhouse’s petition against Securities and Exchange Board of India, recused himself from hearing the case on Friday, without assigning any reason.

Bring clarity on the role of independent directors

There is no major cause for worry on the imposition of heavy penalties by the U.S. capital market regulator on the erstwhile Satyam Computers, Union Minister of State for Corporate Affairs Salman Khurshid said here on Tuesday. Replying to a query, Mr. Khurshid said he would not comment on this issue as there was no formal communication, but there were indications that “things were on track”.

Satyam scam: Price Waterhouse seeks ruling on SEBI’s jurisdiction over auditors

Audit firm Price Waterhouse has moved the Bombay High Court challenging the Securities and Exchange Board of India’s jurisdiction to investigate its role in the multi-crore Satyam fraud.The audit firm filed a petition in the Bombay High Court on Thursday, seeking a stay on the SEBI proceedings on the grounds that the capital market regulator has no jurisdiction over audit firms.

Auditors qualify Maytas Infra accounts in respect of recovery of ICDs

Maytas Infra Ltd today maintained that it has documentary evidence to show that Mahindra Satyam (Satyam Computer) was the ultimate beneficiary of Rs 324 crore, which was handed over as inter-corporate deposits (ICDs). This is part of Rs 392 crore ICDs, which the erstwhile promoters of Maytas Infra Ltd, passed on to other corporate entities, including Mahindra Satyam.
